…the ‘first’ real attempt to provide a balanced view of the developmental, systematic, and diverse elements of human behavior and the social environment under one instructional/conceptual model. The sheer volume and diversity of material in [these books] is such that almost an infinite number of both course emphases and/or instructional options are open. Please hurry and publish it. [This book] is wonderful. Many texts in Human Behavior do not deal very well with large size systems. This volume does. I find that the chapter on Community is one of the best I have read in a Human Behavior text. This chapter is packed full of essential information. Also, the chapter on Family is excellent. I am very pleased with the chapter on Organizations. Again, it is content that for the most part gets short shrift in most Human Behavior texts. I am very pleased that you have separated the material on Individual Life Span in one book [Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Second Edition" ? see below] and that mid-level and larger systems is in another [this] book. I think this plan gives faculty many different options. Use both together, use one or the other. I am very pleased and excited about these books in combination.", …unique in its application of theory and Social Work implications for the ‘person in the environment’ perspective. Synopsis
Using a personal writing style, the authors show students why people behave the way they do and prepare them for situations they will encounter on the job and in daily living. The book focuses on the family, group, organization, and community influences on human development, with explicit attention paid to the patterns and consequences of discrimination and oppression. Coverage includes: diverse family lifestyles (two-parent families, single-parent families, gay and lesbian families, ethnic and racial backgrounds, and class differences); various types of group membership (norms, group conformity, group goals, and leadership and power issues); social welfare organizations (goals of organizations, the bureaucratic environment, and communication processes); and concept, function, and structure of a community as a system (racial and ethnic communities).

- 2***a (47)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseI was shipped quickly. It was sent in a bubble wrap envelope along with a cardboard insert to protect the sheet music during shipment. It was as advertised. I was thrilled to find an original printed copy. I had checked ebay years ago and had given up trying to find it & just took a chance the other day. And to my surprise there it was. It was a fair price with the cost of the item, shipping supplies, and postage. I'm a happy customer. 😊
