Its modular architecture lets you upgrade the interface with Cisco modules whenever you need to accommodate network expansion. This Cisco router has a durable metal casing, and the physical interface includes a power switch and a power plug. The Cisco 2600 series are powerful business-class routers. The Cisco 2621 router gives Cisco reliability, sustainability, and function at an affordable cost. Robust capability helps maintain consistent speeds in busy traffic periods, and the Cisco IOS software ensures the 2621 fits any existing architecture or begin an entirely new network branch. Cisco's standard security features enable users to protect their data from harmful outside influence and operate a clean internetwork safe for its users.Providing the hardware to be implemented as a multiservice tool for commercial deployment, the 2621 router integrates several mission-critical devices into one unit. As a modular unit, the 2621 may be upgraded or custom-fitted to fill multiple roles in an internetwork design. With the addition of a 16-port switch module, the 2621 becomes an integrated solution for both Layer 3 WAN access and Layer 2 switching to give administrators access to a high-speed and simple all-in-one branch networking solution for their networking needs. Integrated VOIP (Voice Over IP) support, VPN support, and a range of Cisco modules add additional options for multi-function content management and delivery.A host of security protocols on the 2621 creates layers of protection for connected hosts and the entire internetwork. The built-in Cisco IOS firewall service supports advanced features like CBAC (Context-Based Access Control), DoS (Denial of Service) protection, Java blocking, and IPS (Intrusion Prevention Service). Full support for NAC (Network Admission Control) and its associated anti-virus protection keeps malicious content away from the internetwork itself and far from the end-user. AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) provides encryption for the router itself.The Cisco IOS software present on the device works for any internetwork application. Support for all industry standard and Cisco proprietary routing protocols is present, including EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol) and OSPF (Open Shortest Path First). Switch ports on the optional 16-port switching module are confogurable as VLANs for bandwidth management and internetwork separation. Cisco's advanced QoS features can be set up to ensure content-based data management and help provide quick delivery of important information across the network. The 2621 router is fully rack mountable and includes 128MB of DRAM as standard up to a maximum of 256MB. It features 32MB of Flash Memory and support for up to 48MB. One WIC port, one AIM port, two 10/100 Ethernet ports, a console port and one network module slot are located on the unit.
