The Hoya HMC Ultraviolet UV Glass Filter is a multi-purpose fine-weather filter that is designed to optimize the photography experience of the digital SLR user. UV filters absorbultraviolet rays that often make outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct and should be constantly fitted to a lens to provide improved clarity and color balance as well as to provide protection to your lens.Hoya HMCfilters are optimized for use with digital SLR camerasbut they are also perfect for traditional 35mm SLR applicationsincludingblack and white photography. The Hoya Circular Polarizing (PL) Filter allows you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass and they also improve colorsaturation clarity and contrast. Thisthreaded filter is often used to increasethe contrast and saturation in blue skiesand white clouds for example. Hoyas polarizingfilters do not affect the overall colorbalance of a shot and they will provide protection for your lens while shooting.Hoya filters are perfect for digital SLRcameras or traditional 35mm SLR applicationsincluding black and white photography. Using Hoya Circular PL Filters: A polarizer is different than most filters in that it is composed of two pieces of glass mounted independently inside a round frame so that one can be rotated relative to the other. As it is rotated it increasingly cuts out glare and haze. With an SLR you can actually observe this change through the viewfinder. Polarizers reduce glare from water glass or any non-metallic surface. You can also use a polarizer filter to darken blue skies. Polarizers come in two versions linear and circular and autofocus cameras will perform best with a circular polarizer.This Hoya Neutral Density (ND) Filter is an essential accessory for any photographers camera bag. ND filters reduce the amount of visible light that enters the lens allowing the user to utilize wider apertures or slower shutter speeds particularly in bright conditions. ND filters work especially well for portraits by allowing the photographer to reduce the depth of field producing pleasant background blur while keeping the subject in sharp focus. These filters are also often used to emphasize movement by permitting slow shutter speeds in bright light giving life to photos that would otherwise look frozen in time. This particular filter is designed to minimize reflection on the filter surface which reduces flare and ghosting and produces sharp contrast and well-balanced color. An ND8 filter reduces the amount of light by 3 stops. When to use a Neutral Density Filter: To enable slow shutter speeds to be used to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls clouds cars etc.To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used which helps separate subjects from their background.To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (ie: above ISO400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations.To allow video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow sand or other bright scenes which would normally cause overexposure.
