X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse is a side-scrolling action game that is based on Marvel's popular franchise. The game is populated with characters from the X-Men comics and early animated series, including Cyclops, Wolverine, and Beast. A team of mutants is sent by Charles Xavier to liberate mutants being held captive at a Genosha island complex. Each of the five playable characters have their own unique abilities and skills, as well as individual objectives to complete at the complex, and players must finish each characters' levels before they can proceed onto the next leg of the journey.
