I tried various combinations of adapters such as Google's own and various high street shops in combination with different 3.5mm headphones (all good quality such as Sony-Ericsson). They all had issues with voice calls dropping out randomly or work just a short time. I'm not sure why this combination seems to work so well but they do. Will possibly work for other manufacturers as well.
