It is not lined with soft cloth but I dont think the fabric will cause scratches (unless abrasive dust gets between the cover and the vehicle. The outer silver color is very reflective when new and reflects much heat away. I'm using a much too large truck cover over a car I want to sell while I'm in the process of correcting the clearcoat.
