The ones I have bought at Ace Hardware do attract flies and have very strong smell. I don't know if all of the 18 that I bought on eBay are bad (weak?) since I have only tried three so far. I don't see any use by date on the packaging. If these are out of date they should not be sold or the buyer should be notified that they are out of date. The smelly ingredient appears to be the putrefied egg solids (rotten eggs?).
