In 1997, visionary Daniel Handley conceived of the annual Sculpture by the Sea exhibition in Australia, as an event designed to pair groundbreaking, visually-arresting works of sculpture with the breathtaking majesty of the Australian coastline as a natural backdrop. In time, the exhibition dramatically evolved from a one-time event, to a celebration of art held perennially on the country's east and west coasts.
