Notes
Double 180gm vinyl LP pressing housed in a Stoughton case-wrapped gatefold jacket. Mastered at 45rpm from the original master tapes by Bernie Grundman. This reissue presents this heralded release in exacting sound, with the instruments given full range and true-to-life imaging that takes you right into New York City's Atlantic Recording Studios when the pieces were recorded in January 1959. Vibraphonist Milt Jackson and sax virtuoso John Coltrane recorded just once together, and it makes one wish they reunited for more. Collaborating with Hank Jones, Paul Chambers, and Connie Kay, the headliners go for broke, expanding the parameters of two Jackson originals and three standards. This audiophile-grade reissue presents the recording in exacting sound, taking you right into NYC's Atlantic Recording Studios when the pieces were recorded in January 1959.
