If you are deploying, or are still in the planning stages of rolling out IP telephony in your workplace, this Linksys unit facilitates the move toward unified communications. It performs analog-to-digital conversion that enables you to connect to a VoIP service provider through an existing broadband connection. Simply hook up your legacy touchtone phone, fax machine, or speakerphone to any of the two integrated foreign exchange subscriber (FXS) ports and you can have a fast and stable VoIP architecture that lets you take advantage of emerging IP telephony applications and services. Plus, each interface has its own independent phone number, which gives you access to two separate phone lines. Ideal for consumers who require a connection to enterprise networks, small office settings, private branch exchange (PBX) systems, and VoIP cloud services, this unit comes with a built-in router to separate your VoIP topology from other devices. It supports two 100BASET RJ45 Ethernet ports. Use one port to link to a home or office local area network (LAN), and another to attach a broadband modem or router for wide area network (WAN) connectivity. The quality of VoIP has significantly improved since this technology became available in the market. It has now surpassed the standard for most traditional landline services. With this gateway, you get crisp, natural-sounding vocal quality when handling calls or web conferencing over the Internet. The unit comes with embedded vocal enhancement features, including line-echo cancellation, full-duplex compression optimization, activity detection, and comfort noise generation. Jitter artifacts, such as data packet losses, are also minimized through dynamic system monitoring. The SPA2102 ATA offers support for multiple protocols that enable ease of deployment, security, interoperability, and manageability. These include session initiation protocol (SIP) and skinny client control protocol (SCCP)-Cisco call manager technology. Providing great depth, SIP facilitates real-time multimedia sessions between groups of people. In addition to making calls online, you are also able to participate in instant messaging, audio multicast meetings, and video web conferences with your employees, clients, and business partners. Building on the strengths of its predecessors, this product comes with enhanced security to protect the privacy of your communications and maintain the integrity of your data. Encryption-based mechanisms and password-installation policies for provisioning and servicing are also integrated, which helps minimize admin networking tasks. Install a password at both admin and guest user levels. For added protection, your password is displayed as asterisks instead of readable text when logging on the device. Initial configuration of the SPA2102 with integrated router takes very little time to complete the setup process. It comes with a built-in web interface, allowing you to directly customize the unit via a browser.
