Went to the wood pile and gave it a thorough test, wow , it splits effortlessly, chops cleanly, and it is beautiful, the etching on the head is not only gorgeous, the background is recessed which helps the ax not get stuck in the wood, the handle is designed to provide multiple positions to hold making it very versatile. The sheath that comes with this ax is a work of art itself, heavy leather with embossing that rides on the belt comfortably .
