About this product

    Product Information

The last game released for use with Mattel's Intellivoice module, TRON Solar Sailer is based on Walt Disney's TRON, which hit theaters in 1982. The game puts you in the role of Flynn, a videogame designer trapped inside a computer system you created. Your mission is to destroy the Master Control Program before it destroys you. Only then will you be able to return to the real world.

The computer world you inhabit consists of eight concentric rings, which act as tracks. The MCP is located in the center ring, track zero. Each track is divided into eight sectors. You can move right or left through all sectors on a track, clockwise or counterclockwise.

As you cruise about the game grid, the MCP will put obstacles in your course, such as tanks, energizer robots, and recognizers, which can hurl you backwards. Luckily, you are armed with laser beams for use in defending yourself. Shooting and getting shot lowers beam energy, but when you reach an intersection you can switch beams. Unfortunately, you steal energy from a track each time you jump from one beam to another.

If you make it to track zero, you will enter game phase two, which puts you in decoding mode inside the heart of the MCP. You control BIT, a floating data unit, as it intercepts, captures and correctly displays continuous data transmissions emitted by the MCP. If you manage to stop enough transmissions, which appear onscreen as zeroes and ones, you will overload the MCP.

At various times during the game you will hear from the game's cast of characters: TRON reports energy beam levels; friend and navigator Yori reports the location of the Solar Sailer; friend and coworker Alan gives you vital access codes; and BIT voices "yes" and "no" when appropriate while you are stopping transmissions.

My first Ebay purchase and happy with the results. Price reasonable, description accurate and honest with several photos, most importantly, the photo with the power light. I paid a little extra for quicker delivery and pleased with that, along with the care taken in packaging the item. All in all, a pleasing experience. Thank you.
