One of a compendium of sports titles to bear the Disney hallmark, Disney Sports Soccer offers five-a-side action between some of Disney's most recognizable characters. Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pete, and of course, Mickey and Minnie each captain a team (rated in such categories as Power, Technique, and Speed) with applicable names, such as the Sea Ducks, Belles, Super Stars, and Space Nuts. <br><br>Along with the usual passing and shooting abilities, each team can utilize a special attack, be it defensive, offensive, or simply a new technique. These abilities are determined by the "magical" footwear chosen prior to the match and when activated imbue the teams' players with anything from enhanced stats to the ability to teleport, perform elemental attacks, or even execute special on-pitch maneuvers. These abilities, along with temporary turbo boosts, are fueled by the same onscreen meter, forcing players to carefully choose when to use each.<br><br>Additional footwear can be acquired through various means, such as winning tournaments, playing the six mini-games, or trading items with the GameCube version of the title. The mini-games are based upon various facets of the sport and will have players engaging in increasingly difficult dribbling, passing, shooting, free kick, penalty kick, and corner kick drills. Other modes of play include Single Match, Tournament, Training, and a spectator mode where players can watch two CPU teams compete. Players can also view records such as the amount of time played and mini-game scores, as well as the number of items unlocked. Utilizing the GBA Link Cable, two players can compete against one another or trade items.
