The problem is with the amount of wear on the connectors. Both the USB-C connector and the Thunderbolt 2 port are so warn that they will not stay connected to any port and cable. Considering the cost, this is a very poor value. I could not get the connector to work without foil and tape. I cannot recommend that anyone purchase used connectors and cables unless you can restore them.
