About this product

Product Information

Enjoy classic arcade gaming action on your PlayStation 2 console. Namco Museum for Sony PS2 combines your favorite Namco arcade games from the 1970's, 1980's, and 1990's in a single disc. The disc includes Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaxian , Dig Dug, Galaga, Pole Position, Pole Position II, Pac-Mania, and Pac-Attack. Namco Museum also includes rebooted editions such as Pac-Man Arrangement, Galaga Arrangement, and Dig Dug Arrangement. Namco Museum originally launched for the first generation PlayStation consoles in 1995. Namco released six volumes of the series throughout the 1990s; however, the games were only available in Japan. In 1999, Namco and Mass Media launched a version of the game for Nintendo N64, Game Boy Advance, and Dreamcast consoles. The 2001 PlayStation 2 version was also available for Xbox and Gamecube and included several bonus and hidden games. Subsequent versions of Namco Museum came out for Windows PCs, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, and Wii. This product is the PlayStation 2 version and is only playable on PS2 consoles. It is not compatible with later PlayStation consoles such as the PSP, PS3, and PS4 or other brands such as Wii U, Xbox, Xbox One, Xbox 360, or 3DS. Namco Museum features a rating of E for Everyone, which means that it is appropriate for players of all ages. The games in Namco Museum follow the same classic gameplay styles as their arcade counterparts. In Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man, you must follow a maze, eat biscuits, and outrun ghosts. Galaxian is a shooter game that involves shooting alien swarms in a spaceship. Galaga is a single-player and multiplayer fixed shooter similar to Galaxian. In Pole Position, you drive a racecar and try to beat both the clock and other cars in the race. Dig Dug is a slightly more complex game. It involves defeating monsters with air pumps and rocks and you must tunnel underground to find and defeat the monsters. Pole Position II and the “Arrangement” reboot games are included as bonus games in the PS2 edition of Namco Museum. This version also includes Pac-Attack and Pac-Mania as hidden games. You can unlock them when you score enough points in Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man. You do not need any additional accessories to play this Namco Museum PS2 game. The original versions of games like Pac-Man and Galaga were arcade games that included very basic joystick or button controls. You can move characters, shoot, and attack with your standard PS2 controller. You can play video games in multiplayer mode, with a second PlayStation controller. This is a great addition to a gamer’s library and is a reminder of the history of some of the classic games.
