About this product

Product Information

Add one more to your enviable collection of the formerly used currencies with the 1972 Lincoln Cent. The first of its kind, this Lincoln Cent is engraved with a side profile of the revered president, Abraham Lincoln on one face and the wheat ears on another. Designed by Victor David Brenner, this bronze coin was one of the most awaited and highly anticipated coins which also gained the reputation of having run the longest in circulation so far. First minted in 1909, the tail design of this Lincoln Cent underwent a lot of changes from the wheat ears to the present Lincoln Memorial design since 1958. Embedded with America's official motto, ”In God we trust”, this bronze coin was first minted and released during the presidency of the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Theodore Roosevelt. Comprising of 95 percent copper and five percent zinc, this Lincoln Cent weighs about 3.11 g. The 1972 Lincoln Cent is a tribute to the president who led the people to victory during the civil war.
