In 2003 Who guitarist Pete Townshend returned to his ambitious rock opera from 1969, "Tommy," and gave it a complete overhaul. The audio tweaking by Townshend more than matches the breadth of his original vision, and finally presents the album in a format befitting his grandiose dreams. The story of the album follows Tommy, a kid who witnesses the shooting of his stepfather by his real father, and subsequently turns deaf, dumb, and blind.
