Strange Rebel Frequency is a recently formed musical collective based in California, that plays a stripped down, heartfelt, acoustic-based alternative or 'Americana' type of music with a slow, melancholic element. The brainchild of singer/songwriter David M Cross, they have been compared to artists such as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, and even Bruce Springsteen, as well as contemporary Americana/indie artists like Wilco, Iron & Wine, and Will Oldham. They have very strong songs, a unique identity and vision, and are a powerful and emotive live experience. Their music could have a very wide appeal... Their new CD 'House of Four & Hearts' is full of rough, raw emotions, ruminations on the timeless subjects of love, lust, death and loss. Maree T's haunting voice echoes behind David's brooding baritone on half the tunes, giving a sweetness to the sour.
