Flight Unlimited is an aerobatic flight simulation experience developed by Looking Glass Studios. The program uses computational fluid dynamics modeling to simulate aircraft behavior, allowing for fully aerobatic maneuvers.<br><br>Five different aircraft are at your fingertips, the Pitts S-2B, Bellanca Decathlon, Sukhoi SU-31, Extra 300S and the Grob S-103 sailplane. Eleven realistic texture mapped landscapes can be seen through five authentic 3D cockpit views and seven external camera views.<br><br>An additional camera view is the ground camera. This view is available through the In-Flight Menu: View panel, or by cycling through views by pressing C or Shift-C. It shows the plane from a fixed vantage point on the ground, as a spectator might see it during an air-show or aerobatics competition. You can zoom in and out as you would in other views. <br><br>Like real planes, the planes in Flight Unlimited can take damaged by high-G force stresses and over speeding (if your airspeed indicator is near or at the red mark, you are probably over speeding), and can even break apart in mid-air! When you hear your wings start to creak from the strain, you may want to take it easy, or switch your plane strength from normal to invulnerable mode.<br><br>Flight lessons are provided to help you work up from the basic maneuvers to complex aerobatic routines. Some of the maneuvers covered are the snap roll, inverted spin, hammerhead stall and tail slide. Flight Unlimited also includes a starting logbook called Cool Demos, with recordings of some sample flying sessions. Watching these might give you some ideas about things to try in free flight.<br><br>The game starts out with the screen resolution set to 640x480 while you're flying. You may want to adjust screen resolution for yourself (Alt-M while flying, or the View section in the In-Flight Menu). Flight Unlimited offers a wide variety, including 1024x768 mode.
