Synopsis
The part played in the Civil War (1861-1865) by the small Marine Corps of the United and Confederate States is overshadowed by the confrontations of the great armies. Nevertheless, the coastal and riverine campaigns were of real importance, given the strategic significance of the Federal blockade of southern ports, and of the struggle for the Mississippi River. Marines wearing blue and grey fought in many dramatic actions afloat and ashore - ship-to-ship engagements, cutting-out expeditions, and coastal landings. This book offers a comprehensive summary of all such battles, illustrated with rare early photographs, and meticulously researched color plates detailing the often obscure minutiae of Marine uniforms and equipment.

Excellent transaction. Items were beautifully packaged. I must add that Seller went above and beyond with the packaging. The items were packed as such to allow for no kind of movement if tossed or tumbled through the shipping process. I think the books would have survived repeated stomps of an elephant. That kind of care is appreciated and encourages future business. The items are as described. Seller offers combined shipping. I very highly recommend Seller to the entire ebay community. A+A+A+A+

This seller is experienced. The books I ordered arrived undamaged because the packaging was performed properly. The shipping fee was appropriate, as the seller combined shipping for my three books. The books were a great value.
