One of the switches in the Cisco Small Business Managed Switch line supports gigabit networking. Twenty-four distinct connections give you powerful performance you can rely on. The 24 high-speed ports optimized to support bandwidth-intensive applications allow people in the workstation to carry on with their duties simultaneously. The unit comes with a rack-mounting kit that helps protect it from contacting liquids that may spill on the floor. Configuration with your servers is a breeze with this webview console. The system is firmware upgradable, which makes for easy scalability. Expand further as you grow with the use of optional Gigabit optical interfaces. The unit comes with many enhanced QoS features to support networked data storage, video, and voice applications, among others. These QoS features also provide for a consistent networked experience. The Cisco SRW2024 switch helps to assure clarity and quality performance for video teleconferencing and other traffic-intensive communications. It does this by utilizing an assortment of mechanisms to prioritize the flow of data. Configuration with your servers is a breeze with this webview console. An effective cooling fan ensures that the system remains functional despite rising temperatures in the building and frequent use of the device. “Store and forward”- type switching mechanisms give you as high as 48 Gbps of non-blocking switching capacity. The hardware supports up to 256 active VLANs, both 802.1Q-based and port-based, with a 4096 range. The Cisco SRW2024 interface features 24 10/100/1000 RJ-45 ports. Gain future-proof system expansion through two shared SFP miniGBIC jacks. The Cisco SRW2024 gigabit offers 2MB of buffer memory. It features three LED indicator lights for Gigabit Ethernet, System, and Link/Activity. It includes Auto MDI/MDI-X, which can support cable detection on 10/100/1000 copper jacks. It has a built-in flow control mechanism that assures you of no packet loss. Half-duplex operation utilizes backpressure, and full-duplex operation utilizes IEEE802.3x. These switches are also incredibly secure. Security is assured by preventing attached devices from receiving any information until the switch authenticates it. This secure authentication and access limitations guard against interference by unauthorized individuals who may wish to access the network. You can even customize access levels in a number of ways to fully customize and personalize access. A default admin password is provided, but you can set your own passwords for each access level and gain the different security levels you require. The minimum requirements for using these management solutions include a Cat5 Ethernet cable. They also require that TCI/IP protocol is installed on any computer accessing the system as well as a network adapter. They support Windows, MacOS X, and Linux operating systems.
