The sound post was collapsed and I had to reposition it and set it in the violin with tools and with difficulty. The violin is supposed to be fitted with the original bridge which was missing, and indeed the absence of the fitted bridge is why the sound post has fallen over. The violin only has one fine tuner on the top E string, when the instrument is supposed to have 6 of them. The pick up bridge is misaligned.
