Great artifact. Can’t determine age, except perhaps by metallurgical anlysis; It appears to me that it is hand made. Ring is split to allow the blade to be attached and forge welded. Most likely, if indeed blacksmith made, ring is iron and blade is steel . Bought a new handle and fit it to the piece. Nice look in my arms room. Thanks Jack Pevenstein McLean, VA
