I immediately tried one of my 30 year old Hi8 tapes and I was very happy (and a bit surprised) when the video played just fine. This is just what I need to play my old tapes while I digitize them. Not too important to me, but cosmetically, the box looks pretty good. More importantly, the tape handling seems to be functioning properly. There are a lot of moving parts in there!
