- c***y (139)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseTRS-80 CoCo 1/2 ECB IC. Shipped Fast. Quality: A. Packing: B+, bent pins. Overall: Happy :). Fair warning, the chip will only stay in the socket if you leave the pins long due to the difference in strength between square pins and flat pins. Personally, I am going to remove the original 24-pin socket and solder this 24-to-28 converter board in its place and put a proper 28-pin IC socket ($0.50) on it to place the new ROM chip in. Of course you can go ahead and directly solder this adapter board to your motherboard, however you need to understand this is made for folks who dont want to solder or do not possess soldering skills. Its meant to just plug into the socket. So I really dont know why you leave a warning mentioning people should leave the pins long. Nowhere do I say anyone should alter or cut the pins. No one should cut or shorten the pins at all under any situation.

Popped this in to my TRS-80 CoCo2 26-3026 with a 8709416 Rev B board. The pins on the adapter are longer than the socket can handle, but that works out because there is a capacitor sitting so close to the socket that mashing this all the way in is not possible. After getting this seated, I turned on the TRS and boom... instant ECB 1.1! Super easy to install. Good quality and packaging. Glad you got your system up to ECB 1.1. And you are right, a bunch of boards on the coco 2 have something immediately near the socket which would cause a problem. The adapter doesnt have the issue and fits tightly.
