The crackling effect is quite uniform as in the photo and all the beads are well matched with no 'duds' amongst them, but they do feel and sound like quartz stone. They have a silky smooth matt finish and are quite attractive, so they will look good in a necklace like lots of tiny snowballs/icecubes! Overall, I am pleased.
