The film was Hitchcock's second sound film after MURDER! A blend of humor and tragedy, the poignant story follows a lower-class family during the Dublin uprising. Falsely believing that it is about to inherit a fortune, the family becomes unhinged. Beautifully photographed, this lesser-known Hitchcock film establishes many of the director's trademark uses of sound.
