The sequel to the GBA launch title, Fire Wrestling Pro 2 offers players more of the popular and long-running Japanese series, with a hefty 200 wrestlers from 18 organizations, as well as the option to create an additional 75+ wrestlers and five new organizations. An incredible range of customization options allows players to distribute points to edit pre-existing wrestlers and create personal favorites. Edit mode offers the ability to change a wrestler's name and appearance, select from 16 fighting styles, 13 defensive skills, a half dozen knockout punches (known as Criticals), and a dozen special skills. In addition, players assign wrestler recovery skills, attack and defensive abilities, moves, CPU logic for controlling custom made wrestlers, and a handful of special traits like discretion, flexibility, entertainment, and cooperation.<br><br>Exhibition mode offers single-match action with adjustable parameters, including Normal, Battle Royal, Death Match, or Gruesome gameplay. Every match can be customized using 22 settings, ranging from match type (single, tag, handicap) and time limits to the use of illegal attacks and ring selection. Career mode (Ironman Road) challenges players to reach the top of the wrestling card and rewards success by unlocking additional wrestlers. Battle Royal is a four-man, last-man-standing match featuring adjustable winning conditions and elimination rules, while Gruesome is a one-on-one match invoking mandatory submission rules. Death Matches are fought in a special ring surrounded by electrical wire and filled with ticking time bombs.<br><br>Wrestlers can be traded to friends using a GBA link cable, assuming both players have game packs, but two-player action is limited to Exhibition mode only. Fire Wrestling Pro 2 features control schemes for a variety of situations, including grabbing from the front or behind when opponent is face up or face down on the mat, running, strategies for recovery, counterattacks, corner post and diving attacks, using the ropes, tag team play, and special maneuvers.
