Death Track Racing is the sequel to the PC version of Rollcage, released in Europe and for the PlayStation as Rollcage Stage II. Gameplay features futuristic racing with vehicles that race across walls and ceilings, as well as traditional horizontal roadways. Mini-rockets, chain guns, evasion, power-ups, and suspension of the laws of physics all attend this demolition combat foray on wheels.<br><br>Up to four players are supported on split screen or with a LAN or Internet connection. Single-player includes campaign (total racing and classic), arcade, time attack, training and scramble modes. In "total racing," points are awarded for successful attacks on opponents and annihilation of buildings, thus winning isn't always the key to the gold. "Classic" mode is more traditional, where winning earns better cars, more weapons and advancement to tougher stages.<br><br>Arcade mode, with controls and power-ups similar to campaign, lets you choose tracks and environments, while time attack is a race against time, using speed power-ups. Practice is accomplished during training mode where you can perfect your skills, and scramble is a special short track contest that requires stopping on a checkerboard end zone.<br><br>Multi-player game modes include single race, tournament (tracks can be randomized), time attack, combat and pursuit, where you select the cars, track and environment. With the exception of time attack races, cars use different weapons randomly obtained through power-ups, including mini-rockets, laser blades, chain guns, time warp, "driller" rockets, leader missiles, wormholes, stasis beams, radius bombs, shields, tazer rams and turbo speed bursts.<br><br>A progress indicator displays opponent positions, best lap times, and points earned by all racers.
