The characters that inhabit the Transformers Universe are on an ongoing quest. Depending on their allegiance, they battle to destroy or to save Planet Earth. The Hasbro Transformers Universe Ultra: Powerglide Robots Action Figure is one of the good guys, an Autobot. Posed in his original package, Powerglide is in his vehicle mode, a futuristic A-10 Warthog Jet featuring mega-weapons. Impressive Powerglide is one of the “Robots in Disguise” series of Transformers toys. In his A-10 Warthog Jet mode, Powerglide has a color scheme of white with red accents. In his toy robot mode, he cuts a commanding figure with weapons drawn and his bright red helmet protecting his face. In this generation of toys from Hasbro, Powerglide is one of the few Autobots that flies. Hasbro has created “generations” of toys to separate various versions of the characters. In the Universe version, the Powerglide robot takes full advantage of his aerial capabilities and initiates fantastic flying maneuvers to combat Decepticon characters such as Megatron. The Powerglide Robot toy features sound and light effects. When the Autobot Powerglide figure is being transformed from jet to robot mode or vice versa, he can produce “conversion” sounds. The Thermal Beam Projectile Weapon that Powerglide holds projects light. Hasbro Transformers toys such as Powerglide, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Thunderbolt, and Bumblebee appear in a variety of media offerings. Marvel comics, video games, animated series, films, and toys all offer a version of these Transformers. The “Combiner” version of Transformers is one such generation of figures. The Transformer Combiner Wars devastates various planets and as in other Transformer generations as well: Autobot vs Decepticon and Optimus Prime vs Megatron. The figure of Powerglide is usually in the middle of these wars. The aerial maneuverability of Transformer Powerglide is a great asset to his Autobot friends—Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Thunderbolt—and a nemesis to Decepticon characters such as Starscream. The Transformer’s Autobot Powerglide is approximately 8 inches tall and functions in either jet or robot mode. The reverse side of the original package for Powerglide features him in each version. For ages 5 and up, the Transformers Powerglide toy provides hours of imaginative play. The larger size of this character makes it easier to manipulate for kid-sized hands and fingers. As Planet Earth hangs in the balance, Powerglide and the Autobot Transformers save the day.
