These blanks were not as good as what was pictured. Out of the 10 that I received there are only about 4 that I may consider turning because they have some character. Pieces of hickory with streaking, knots or interesting grain make nice pens. Hickory with perfectly straight grain and no color change might as well be white pine. I was hopeful that there would be more than 4 very marginally interesting pieces, but I am not out very much money so I guess the rest will be great fire starters.
