Reviews
In Heather B. Moore's exciting historical novel Lady Flyer , a trailblazing World War II pilot and fierce advocate for women's equality takes a stand that changes women's futures in the military. . . . The steady narrative alternates between the grim realities of the war and warm vignettes that cover Nancy's blossoming romance, married life, and strong friendships with other women pilots. . . . Nancy's emotions are palpable throughout. Engaging historical novel., Moore [succeeds] in capturing the squadron's determination and bravery in the face of skeptics and in creating a memorable portrait of Harkness as an inspiring feminist pioneer. Recommended for historical fiction readers who enjoy both the WWII home front setting and learning about real-life remarkable women., Moore's fans will relish her trademark meticulous research and warm portrayal of Nancy and Bob's love story and the close bonds formed between the women pilots, more than 30 of whom lost their lives in service of their country.
Synopsis
Based on a true story and set against the backdrop of WWII, a young woman's love of flying becomes an epic fight for identity and equality. In the quiet town of Houghton, Michigan, sixteen-year-old Nancy Harkness discovers a passion that ignites her heart in ways she never expected. The arrival of barnstormer pilots brings more than just the thrill of their daring stunts; it brings the promise of adventure. Nancy vows she will be a pilot someday. Years later, as the dark clouds of World War II gather on the horizon, Nancy's dreams take a new and daring turn. With unwavering determination, she envisions a squadron of female pilots. Yet, her path is far from clear. The male-dominated world of aviation pushes back, determined to keep women out of the skies. But Nancy isn't alone in her quest for equality. Jackie Cochran, a formidable aviatrix and Nancy's rival, has her own dreams and ambitions for women in aviation. As they both navigate the turbulent skies of a nation at war, their destinies intertwine in a story of rivalry, respect, and competition.

Item was shipped quickly, and was securely packaged. Items was in at least as good a condition as described; it may actually be in better condition than described, as the book looks almost new and unread. Given the great condition of the book, the price was an exceptional value. Furthermore, I made contact with the seller with a query; and, they got back to me very quickly, and were able to answer all my questions. Overall, a great transaction. I would buy from this seller again. Thanks!

The book arrived as described and as pictured. It shipped quickly, but was shipped in only a plastic bag mailer, so not much protection. I will also forewarn, the seller does not answer questions about the specific condition of a book. I know because I asked if two different books had any writing in the margins and received the same pre-generated response both times declining to answer. Despite this, I would still recommend this seller if you are willing to shoulder that risk buying used books

Quick ship and excellent communication. As described in listing. Hardback book a good value for the money. It was packaged in a very thin plastic covering with no padding. The book was fine and not damaged. Delivered on time. I ordered from this seller over the last couple of years. I like to read Beatrice Small's books. A+
