They were warpped in very thin plastic bags from China. However, the seller was genuine and processed a refund for me right away, without requiring me to return them via international shipping. I would suggest that anyone interested in buying Jellycats here ask for more information before placing an order, and that the seller should look into suppliers more carefully.
