About this product
Product Information
Springfield is under attack by space mutants! Hordes of "slimy, horrible, totally gross and putrid" monsters are wreaking havoc Invasion of the Body Snatchers-style by taking over the bodies of humans! As if that's not bad enough, the creepy creatures are scheming to build a weapon that will enable them to rule the world!

Only Bart Simpson, the bratty but lovable star of the animated television series The Simpsons, can see the aliens because he is the only one with a pair of nifty x-ray glasses. To save the planet, Bart must collect, destroy, hide, change and otherwise ruin the objects the aliens need for their super weapon.

Level one of The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants takes place on the streets of Springfield. Here Bart must spray paint or destroy all the purple objects. The second level finds Bart in the Springfield Shopping Mall. His objective in this level is to gather hats. When a person is actually wearing the hat, Bart must first knock it off his or her head before collecting it.

Balloons are the alien object of choice in level three, which takes place in Krustyland Amusement Park. Bart can grab the balloons or shoot them with his slingshot. If he has any coins in his pocket, he can also play a variety of games of skill and chance (such as a shooting gallery) while in Krustyland. Coins can also be used in other levels to buy useful items (such as rockets) and gain extra lives.

In level four, the mutants have broken into the Springfield Museum of Natural History in order to steal its exit signs. Bart can touch some of the signs to collect them, but many of them are out of his reach. His dart gun will come in handy for unreachable signs.

Finally, Bart gets to visit the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. This is where his dad Homer works. The aliens need nuclear power rods as the final ingredient for their weapon. Bart must collect the rods, run to the basement and put them back in the reactor. To move around the plant, Bart must use the elevators and/or the stairs.

If Bart can convince his family -- Homer, Marge, Lisa and Maggie -- that the alien attack is real, they will help him battle the archenemies waiting for him at the end of each of the five levels. To do this, Bart must spell out his family's names by jumping on the heads of people whose bodies have been taken over and then collect the "proof" they leave behind. Other help in the game comes from TV show host Krusty the Clown, who grants extra lives, and town founder Jebediah Springfield, who grants Bart the power of invincibility.

Throughout the game, Bart will encounter a number of enemies. These include aliens such as Zebloids and Glondips, and characters from the television series such as Nelson, the school bully, and Sideshow Bob, Krusty the Clown's traitorous sidekick. There are numerous obstacles as well, such as pits, wet cement, laser alarms and quicksand.
