Unfortunately the bag itself wasn't in protective packaging but it arrived as pictured. Since there weren't many photos taken I didn't realize there was a small tear & when I opened the bag the zipper would get caught in the same area. Thankfully the tear is very small & unnoticeable. Overall I'm happy with this & it was a great value.
