Synopsis
Hailed by The New York Times as a book that must be read to understand the first thing about the role of oil in modern history, Yergin's bestselling Pulitzer Prize-winner has been made into an exciting 8-part miniseries to air on PBS in January 1993. 32 pages of photos., Pulitzer Prize Winner -- and Now an Epic PBS SeriesThe Prizerecounts the panoramic history of oil -- and the struggle for wealth power that has always surrounded oil. This struggle has shaken the world economy, dictated the outcome of wars, and transformed the destiny of men and nations. The Prizeis as much a history of the twentieth century as of the oil industry itself. The canvas of this history is enormous -- from the drilling of the first well in Pennsylvania through two great world wars to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and Operation Desert Storm. The cast extends from wildcatters and rogues to oil tycoons, and from Winston Churchill and Ibn Saud to George Bush and Saddam Hussein. The definitive work on the subject of oil and a major contribution to understanding our century,The Prizeis a book of extraordinary breadth, riveting excitement -- and great importance.

- e***e (24)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThere was a quick turn around time from the accepted offer to the product being shipped and delivered. I do have two areas of constructive feedback however: 1) There were photos showing the dust jacket's damage but I don't feel the product classification/description of 'very good' was applicable given the type and extent of damage - Given this, I felt the product was originally listed at way too high a price. 2) Not sure who sets shipping cost but that was too high for what the product was.
