I have the version with the thread hole mounting option and it is not as stable as I would like it to be. I expected it to be a bit more snug and tight after mounting it so the speaker doesn't move as much and would feel better fastened, but it gets the job done. One critique: the plastic cover that goes to base is very ugly, cheap and not the same that is on the pictures here. I didn't even use it.
