They did wipe it off, but it still took me quite a while to clean it properly before i used it. it was difficult to see from the picture, but the light gray snooze bar is so stained that no amount of cleaning will bring it back to its original color. i'll probably have to use fine grit sandpaper to get rid of the nasty brown staining.
