    It works perfectly. Don't be shy about replacing the 1.8" HDD with a 1.8" SSD for your older laptop. This adapter holds the SSD properly, and then the adapter fits very well in your old laptop. Be aware that this SSD will most likely operate no faster than SATA I or SATA II, based on the slower operational speeds of the laptops these most likely fit. My HP runs at SATA II, but the benefits I see are well worth the cost and trouble of installing an SSD
