HP online software won't recognize the USB connection on this unit, and for this reason will not recognize this scanner. Using the copy function, I am able to save B&W or Color Single or Duplex scans to PC as PDF files. In other words, this is a good backup unit to the Fujitsu scanner I already have. Unit did not come with software, but I was able to get the copy function to work with online drivers from HP.
