About this product
Product Information
Forgotten Realms Archives: Silver Edition is a collection of role-playing games released from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s. This edition is a compilation of Forgotten Realms: The Archives -- Collection One, Forgotten Realms: The Archives -- Collection Two, and Forgotten Realms: The Archives -- Collection Three. The games that were featured in those collections include: Eye of the Beholder, Eye of the Beholder II, Eye of the Beholder III, Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades, Pools of Darkness, Gateway to the Savage Frontier, Treasures of the Savage Frontier, Hillsfar, Dungeon Hack, Menzoberranzan, Blood & Magic, and a demo of Baldur's Gate.

The Eye of the Beholder trilogy began in 1990, was originally developed by Westwood Studios and published by Strategic Simulations. Players control a party consisting of four player characters and two non-player characters. Characters can be one of six races and one of a variety of classes that include cleric, paladin, ranger, wizard, and thief. Their adventure takes place in Waterdeep where the party initially searches for the evil Xanathar. As adventurers move from one game to the next, new locations, monsters, and people, as well as different interface systems will be introduced.

What is known as "The Forgotten Realms Epic," the four game series features Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades, and Pools of Darkness. This series, developed and published by Strategic Simulations, begins in the city of New Phlan. Players control a party of six characters who travel the area immediately surrounding New Phlan in order to cleanse it of evil. Sequels to the original will take the characters through a variety of locations as they continue to combat various forms of evil. The game Hillsfar is compatible with this series as individual characters can be transferred to this game in order to gain additional experience.

Gateway to the Savage Frontier and Treasures of the Savage Frontier, also developed and published by Strategic Simulations, features the same interface as "The Forgotten Realms Epic" with a few new additions. One added feature is weather that impacts combat and movement. Another is character interaction. Characters will interact with each other and even fall in love. Falling in love can actually impact how the characters fight so that if a character that is in love will fight better if that character that they love remains in the party.

Dungeon Hack is a single-player game that randomly creates a new dungeon each time you play. Players only control one character, which is also randomly generated, as they explore dungeons. Menzoberranzan is the name of the city in which this game begins. Developed by DreamForge and published by Strategic Simulations, players begin the adventure on a quest to rescue their friends. Blood & Magic, developed by Tachyon Studios and published by Interplay, is a fantasy-based strategy game that pits wizards against each other in a battle to become the master of the realm. This is the only game in the collection that can be played with more than one player; two players can go head-to-head via a modem.
