The drive works very well but unlike many 2.5 inch HDDs, it requires both 5 VDC and 12 VDC. So it may not work in a USB expansion box without a 12 VDC power adapter. It functions perfectly in a USB expansion box with 12 VDC power. It does seem to run quite warm.
