I thought these were the traditional collar extenders with a plastic button and an elastic loop, but the entire thing including the loops is solid plastic. I couldn't really tell from the picture (my eyes aren't great). But it will probably serve its purpose well enough, and I can't fault the seller for selling me what I bought. :-)
