Compatible with most PCs and laptop computers, this compact Hitachi Travelstar 5K100 2.5-inch hard drive features a 5,400 RPM spindle, an 8 MB buffer and support for both PATA and SATA interfaces. Other characteristics that make this internal 80 GB hard drive ideal for portable use include power efficiency (the Hitachi Travelstar 5K100 consumes battery power at a rate comparable to a much slower 4,200 RPM drive) and quiet operation. To ensure long life, the Hitachi Travelstar hard drive employs enhanced data integrity checks and mechanical components that have been customized to reduce disk wear.
