There are a total of 24 characters, and you have to complete a series of battles in order to unlock them all. Fight in the tournament with old favorites like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Sonya, Jax, Lui Kang, and many, many more. If you play as a single-player, you follow Shao Kahn as he attempts to become tyrant ruler of the Earth Realm. The single-player mode has five difficulty levels for a variety of play depending on your skill level in “Mortal Kombat.”Before PlayStation and Nintendo DS, “Mortal Kombat,” a long shot from pixelated Atari games, redefined what video games could be. Never backing down from controversy, “Mortal Kombat” single-handedly revolutionized violence in video gaming on Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. When “Mortal Kombat 3” dropped, the violence had taken a whole new level, and this special edition only intensifies it. Not only does MK3 feature hyper violence, but it also includes more stages, characters, and finishing moves. It has everything a Kombat fan could want. “Mortal Kombat 3” features fan favorite playable fighters like Reptile, Kitana, and Jade, as well as the return of Scorpion.MK3 Ultimate took an amazing arcade mainstay and series high point and adapted it for home play on your Sega console. You can have up to eight players in tournament mode or stick to one-on-one and two-on-two team matches in play. Various game options include handicaps, violence level adjustments, controller remapping, and of course, the ability to choose your Kombat fighter. The Ultimate edition also offers a Master level if you're feeling up to the challenge and think you can handle it.
