Established in 1688 The Green Howards created the foundation for a tradition lasting 300 years for fine service to the nation. This narrative charts their history and so reflects that of the Army in all its greatest battles: French wars to 1797, Napoleonic era, Crimea, First and Second World Wars and on to Suez and Malaya and represents an enviable military record. This contains the whole story from raising to present day with new research to reveal fresh insights into their history, and in particular the little covered interwar and post 1945 decades.
