Seller Notes: “Offering a fabulous mid-nineteenth century Victorian bodice made of a high-quality black silk with ... “Offering a fabulous mid-nineteenth century Victorian bodice made of a high-quality black silk with cream silk lined, wide pagoda sleeves. This bodice is of a high quality that would have been made for a woman of financial means. It is possible that this was a mourning piece for a well-to-do lady, but it is possible that it was just an elaborate piece of black clothing. The bodice silk is supple and not at all dry. I would consider it to be in very-good to excellent condition.The only signs of wear I have photographed--these consist of a slight separation of the silk(which can easily be fixed) at the top of the shoulder where the seam meets the sleeve, and a few tiny splits down one of the sleeves. The bodice is trimmed with black velvet bands and luxurious silk-covered decorative "buttons" with black fringe encircling them. It is all-original and the interior lining is brown polished cotton with two original & still-present stays.The measurements are:Chest: 29-30"Waist: 2”
