The female witch popularized in Harvey Comics stars in her first console game in Wendy: Every Witch Way for the color handheld. Three powerful stones have been whisked into a floating castle and are causing the world to lose its hold on gravity. As Wendy, players must use her powers to locate the stones while advancing through 12 stages of side-scrolling platform action.<br><br>Since the world is thrown upside down, Wendy can magically alter gravity at will to help her clear obstacles and defeat certain enemies. Each level can be played upside down or right side up as the red-cloaked witch weaves her way past four areas in her quest to set things right: a dungeon, tower, garden, and hall. A total of 21 enemies are located throughout the castle, each of which must be defeated using different techniques.<br><br>Wendy's powers go beyond flipping gravity. Wendy can charge her magic wand up to a maximum of five levels by collecting stars found along the way. If she suffers a hit from either an enemy or an obstacle, however, a star will be lost. Completing an area sends Wendy to a broom stage where she flies in four directions and zaps enemies with her wand. At the end of each broom stage, Wendy receives one of the lost stones.<br><br>Players can resume progress during the adventure after receiving a password awarded at the end of each stage. As a special bonus for those owning a Game Boy Advance, Wendy: Every Witch Way offers three separate levels in a mode called Advance World. Two difficulty levels round out the list of features in the Game Boy Color game, with players having a choice between a Normal or Hard setting.
