- m***b (668)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseFast Shipping and securely l packaged. I've been stropping razors for years; I read about convex hones and tried this balsa block by laying my strop on it. Without a doubt it made the Thiers Evide Sonnant razor I used shave smoother. I know it's not the intended way to use the block but it worked for me.Reply from: thesuperiorshave- Feedback replied by seller thesuperiorshave.- Feedback replied by seller thesuperiorshave.happy to hear sir, certainly stropping on it plain will definitely still result in some geometric advantage for the very last bit of steel touching your skin, because the balsa's very fine and a competent surface for a razor strop. But I ultimately shaped these things to put behind a strop like any Solingen suede-type calf hide, or use with diamond sprays/pastes/etc. embedded on it directly.
