I've been stropping razors for years; I read about convex hones and tried this balsa block by laying my strop on it. Without a doubt it made the Thiers Evide Sonnant razor I used shave smoother. But I ultimately shaped these things to put behind a strop like any Solingen suede-type calf hide, or use with diamond sprays/pastes/etc. embedded on it directly.
